Where We Go From Here
Where We Go From Here
Newark Penn Station | Newark, New Jersey
Newark Penn Station has witnessed generations of arrivals and departures. People chasing opportunities, escaping circumstances, returning home, or leaving everything familiar behind.
For seven years, Newark was part of my story. Before Los Angeles, before everything that came afterward, there was this city.
Photographed at night in black and white, the station stands illuminated against the darkness, a monument to movement, possibility, and transition.
For generations of Black Americans, the journey north represented the possibility of freedom and opportunity, even when inequality followed them into their new cities.
This photograph honors the journeys that brought us here, the places that shaped us, and the courage it takes to discover where we go from here.
